You're now the brand new owner of an Oculus Quest 2 , and while you're very happy, you might also be feeling a little confused about the next steps you need to take to enjoy your VR headset.
If so, don't worry, we've made this post for you.
Here we tell you everything you need to do after purchasing your Oculus Quest 2.
-
Discover everything it brings and charge it
Although the store should have shown and tried on everything, there's no way to discover it at home. Each piece should have its own protective guard, which you must remove before using it.
These pieces are:
- The helmet
- The lenses
- Two controls
- The charger
- The charging cable
- The reference guide
- And the guarantee document
On the remote controls you will see a black strip, which you must pull so that the batteries begin to make contact.
Now it's time to charge it for the first time. A full charge is required before use. This will take about 2.5 hours.
-
Register your Facebook account as a developer
You already know that Oculus Quest is owned by Meta (Facebook), so it's no surprise that you're required to have a Facebook account to use it. However, the usual Facebook account isn't valid; you'll need to open your developer account through this Facebook account .
With this account, you can log in to all your VR devices, as well as view and manage your purchased apps in one place. It contains details such as entitlements, email address, phone number, and payment information. This information is not public.
-
Adjust the language, wifi, IPD and guardian system
Configure the language and Wi-Fi network for your Oculus Quest 2 as indicated by the headset when you turn them on.
Then set the IPD, a feature of VR headsets that refers to adjusting the interpupillary distance of our eyes in order to achieve the greatest possible sharpness.
The guard system is a type of wall, grid, or invisible barrier that will help you create the playing perimeter. It's important to avoid hitting objects around you while playing.
If you go beyond the perimeter you've created for the game—that is, if you get too close to the protective grilles—the headset's exterior cameras will activate, and you'll be taken out of the virtual world.

Download games and enjoy
Your device comes with a series of demos that you can use to get started. Browse the menu and find friends who want to join you on this adventure.
There are also unofficial stores where you can find many free and paid games like SideQuest .
If this is your first time playing VR games, we recommend starting with game sessions that don't last longer than 15 minutes, especially starting with static games, as dynamic games can cause some motion sickness.

And finally, visit our VR accessories store and get the best VR headsets and other accessories to create even more dynamic gameplay as you become a PRO gamer.
